Oh my gosh! I actually got to see outside of the house today! Jim took me for a ride to run a couple of errands today and it was so fun! The pain was bearable and it just felt so good to get out!
My physical therapist was here this morning and that is always a boost! He is always so nice and positive! I had improved a lot since Saturday so that was encouraging! I really need to concentrate on keeping my leg straight when I walk instead of always somewhat bent. I am using crutches more than a walker now so I don't feel so old! Stairs are getting easier so that will increase my view in the house just to be able to move to various rooms!
I am still receiving the very best care ever! Jim has been completely wonderful! He anticipates and meets my every need! I have had many family and friends that have been great to bring in food, treats, flowers, and to help with errands etc! I truly appreciate all the love that is coming my way! I am mso blessed to have the best family and friends ever! Love to you all!

Better Day!
Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, my favorite physical therapist, Mark, came by for therapy! I didn't know he was coming but he worked with me and taught me how to move my leg by myself (Yeay!- independence!) He showed me some new exercises and we found after measuring me flexsion and extension that I had improved on both! I was so excited! No tears tonight! He will come three times a week for about three weeks so I better get busy before my time runs out!
I have had amazing help from Jim! He has been so incredibly patient with me and always willing to do whatever I want him to do! It has saved me! I have also had great support from my Mom and Dad! They have been wonderful! I can hardly wait til I can be the one helping others instead of everyone having to help me!

Post-op day 4, first day home

It was pretty funny trying to get me into Jim's truck at the hospital! Good thing Jim is strong and can lift a whale! The day started pretty good but as night came on, it became more challenging. I just want to be better right now! I want to be able to walk into the bathroom by myself, walk down the stairs unassisted, and do it all without pain! But that is not my reality right now - but I am shooting for it!
Right in the middle of my second meltdown of the night, my good friend, Barbara came over to see me! Soon the tears turned to laughter and the night didn't seem as dismal as it did at first! We will do lunch/therapy, sometime next week so that is something to look forward to! I am so lucky to have so many great friends and family that are willing to love and support me during this hard time. I know if I needed anything at all, there are at least 20 people I could call that would be here within minutes to help me, cry with me, or get me laughing and forget about the pain!
Tonight on the CPM (continuous passive motion) I am at "1" extension and "60" flexion. This describes how much I can straighten my leg and bend my leg. The goal for the extension is -10 or so and the goal for flexsion is around 120. It is a long, slow, painful process that requires constant work.
My point in updating this blog is so that I can track my progress and on those discouraging days, I can look back and see how far I have come. Hopefully this will help keep me motivated - not that looking forward to Ty coming home isn't enough, but it is still a rough road!

New Fountain!
Always doing something to the house...

We decided that a path leading up to the front door would be nice... so we used the stones from the fountain in the back yard and relocated them to the front to make our new path!
A couple months ago we pulled out all the trees and other plants in the front (on the left side) and put in sod, added a palm and some adirondak chairs to help with a beach cottage feel to the front of the house. Oh yeah, we (okay, Jim!) made new shutters for the front of the house and I painted the front door to match - yes, they are yell0w! What do you think?! I love it! Much better than how it looked before!
